The Education Safeguarding Team are pleased to announce that as of September 2017, DSLs will have the opportunity to come and visit CASS and MASH, based at Lancaster Circus. The visits are designed for Designated Safeguarding Leads – whether they are new to post, or have a wealth of experience behind them.
The Education Officers, as part of the School Safeguarding Improvement Team, are continuing to look at ways that the work of CASS and MASH can be promoted within the Education sector. As well as this, we are striving to improve education professional’s knowledge, understanding and awareness of what it is like in CASS/MASH on a day to day basis. DSLs being able to “experience” life on the ground floor at Lancaster Circus, there will increase understanding and awareness of the processes and procedures that the professionals here in Children’s Services undertake, but will also help to forge but also the professional relationships and links between school and Children’s Services.
The format/agenda would be as follows:
Strategic tour of floor – CASS. Introduction to people/agencies. (such as Early Help, Partners, Referral and Advice Officers and staff on Inbox) Strategic tour of floor – MASH. Introduction to people/agencies. (such as social workers, police, health, DA screening and CSE teams.) Q and A session and opportunity for networking with other DSLs.
The visit will take place on a Thursday afternoon 1.30pm – 3:00pm. DSLs can sign up using the BESS booking system.
