KCSIE 16 requires schools to keep the DSL and all staff up-to-date with safeguarding agenda. These Area Conferences will look at the major topics that will affect schools within the context of District provision, City-wide or National level. These Area Safeguarding Conferences build on the District Safeguarding Network Briefings and but have a more strategic focus.
Each Conference is an all-day event designed to look at the wider safeguarding concerns, with invited speakers including regional or national leads. It is the intention of these safeguarding briefings to enable you as a school or setting to meet:
- The statutory requirements laid out in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2016,
- Up-date yourself with regards to the latest safeguarding topics
- Provide you with information to feed into your 2017/18 Section 175 self-assessment and
- Meet a challenge by Ofsted or ISI with regards to safeguarding training for your school.
Attendance is encouraged from the DSL in every school regardless of its designation and also members of the senior leadership team who have strategic oversight of safeguarding within the organisation. Learning from these conferences can then be cascaded as appropriate to staff within your school.
We look forward to welcoming you at this event.
